Welcome to our Africa blog

We hope all our families and friends will log in from time to time to see how we're getting on - and just to touch base. We all know we shall miss everyone and this is one of the ways we hope to keep in touch. And, of course, we shall be logging on to Skype and emailing whenever we get the chance. This is a massive adventure for us all with a shed load of planning , but once you've fallen for Africa you just have to see more. So here we go!

Our Vehicles

After searches, listening to voices of experience and quizzing the experts we decided to hire fully equipped camping vehicles. Naturally, two vehicles. There was no debate about that.



We rented from www.bushlore.com in Johannesburg. The company was great, in correspondence with me for at least a year, answering all the questions with great forbearance. The vehicles have yet to be tested. Watch this space. What's included in fully equipped? Well ..
there's obviously a tent and that is situated on top of each vehicle. It's a sort of pop-up version. Inside the tent is a mattress (wary about that one - will it be memory foam?). There are two sleeping bags and pillows. We are all taking our own pillows and I for one will be taking a duvet. I just can't get along with a sleeping bag.
